Fraunhofer SCAI

The Fraunhofer Institute for Algorithms and Scientific Computing SCAI conducts research in the field of computer simulations for product and process development, and is a prominent corporate partner in the industrial and science sectors. SCAI designs and optimizes industrial applications, implements custom solutions for production and logistics, and offers calculations on high-performance computers. Our services are based on industrial engineering, combined with state-of-the-art methods from applied mathematics and information technology. The HPC group at SCAI advise miscellaneous companies dealing with HPC topics, e.g. accomplishment of porting and optimization work. Besides the group is author of the open source high performance linear algebra library for sparse matrices LAMA.

LAMA is a framework for building efficient, extensible and flexible solvers for sparse linear systems in applications domains that involve - sparse and dense - numerical linear algebra. It supports shared and distributed memory compute architectures, including accelerators, through an easy to use interface.

Within the FAST-project, SCAI is represented with their library LAMA as appliction. The goal is to make the applications scale on exascale architectures and to distribute and migrate theirs calculation parts among various resources easily with the scheduling strategies and tools developed in the project.
